B'nai B'rith New Zealand
B’nai B’rith in New Zealand consists of three Units in Auckland and in Wellington, co-ordinated through the B’nai B’rith New Zealand Council. B’nai B’rith Auckland is very active in the areas of assisting Jewish immigration to New Zealand and in addressing issues of racial discrimination and prejudice.
Examples of past functions:
B'nai B'rith Auckland members participated in a walk around the newly completed Orakei Basin Walkway. Once a volcanic crater with mangrove forest Orakei Basin is connected to the Waitemata harbour by Purewa Creek and Hobson Bay. In the late 1920s the basin was isolated from Purewa Creek and Hobson Bay by the construction of the railway embankment. This helped create a sheltered environment and altered the natural tidal flow in and out of the basin. The walk on the purpose built pathway around the Orakei Basin is beautiful and unexpected as it is situated in the suburbs of Auckland.
Theatre performances are popular outings that might be used as fund raisers.
