The B'nai B'rith ADC is the Jewish communal organization that works to ensure a safe and fair society for Australians of all faiths and cultures. ADC combats not only anti-Semitism but racism in all its forms. The B'nai B'rith Anti-Defamation Commission achieves this by fighting Defamation wherever it appears, runs Multi Faith Leader programs, and makes school visits for the "Click Against Hate" program to combat cyber bullying.
The film preview aims to raise funds needed for this work. The film is: 'SULLY', a true story about a modern day hero! On January 75, 2009, the world witnessed the "Miracle on the Hudson" when Captain Chesley "StJlly" Sullenberger glided his disabled plane onto the frigid waters of the Hudson River, saving the lives of all 155 aboard. However, even as Sully was being heralded by the public and the media for his unprecedented feat of aviation skill, an investigation was unfolding that threatened to destroy his reputation and his career. Starring Tom Hanks and Directed by Clint Eastwood, this movie certainly ticks all the boxes.
November:
Sunday 13 – Guest speaker: Jack Felman in conjunction with Melbourne Mitzvah. Jack is the author of numerous hilariously funny plays.
Sue and Steve Moskowitz; and Silvia and Avi Segev who have recently become proud grandparents.
JULY:
- Sunday 31st - 2:00-5.30 pm – We are going to see the Susie Splitter Group who are playing at Hampton RSL. Cost is $10 per person. Contact Karin (as above) closer to the date for confirmation.
and coming up in August:
- Sunday 7 – Fourth “First Steps” Bushwalk – aka Bushwalking 101 (In conjunction with Ramblers) 9:45 am for a 10:00 am start - Birdsland Scenic Reserve (South Belgrave) and partly in the northern section of Lysterfield Park. The full walk is 10.5 km with total climbing of 250 m and a medium grading. The walk start is within 50 minutes’ drive of Caulfield. There is a possibility of seeing kangaroos, birds, water birds and platypus.
As part of Bushwalking 101, we will also offer the shorter circuit of 6.6 km, which also has some ascents (probably about 175 m) and the same number of descents. This circuit contains most of the highlights of the full pretty walk.
There is also a possibility of doing a 2.9 km fairly flat circuit without a walk-leader – there is no chance of getting lost, but we would want there to be at least 4 people staying to do this shorter option together.
Contact: Malcolm by email (or 0402 893 971 after 2nd August). Bookings essential by Wednesday prior to the walk (3 August).
